Grimsby Archers Online Booking Service

We are now taking bookings for our next Introduction to Archery course which will start on Saturday 26th May 2018 2pm to 4pm on the sports field at John Whitgift Academy, Crossland Road, Grimsby

This course will run for 4 consecutive Saturdays and costs £40 per person.

The course is suitable for people over the age of 10 and adults of all ages who have never done archery before, or have had a taste of archery at school, on holiday or at scout/guide camps etc.

If you have significantly more experience than this (completed a beginners course elsewhere, formal or informal or more than 10 hours shooting with another club or similar), please contact us before booking as you may qualify to join the club without completing a beginners course.

If you want to do archery as part of a qualification, GCSE or DoE award, please contact us before booking as most qualifications like this have their own rules which usually require extended levels of participation.

On our course, you will learn to shoot safely and effectively with a basic archery technique. You'll also learn about scoring systems we use and the different types of bow used for pleasure and competition today.

All the necessary equipment is provided, so  all you need to bring is you. Please dont be tempted to buy any archery equipment before completing a course and even then only with the advice of a qualified coach or experienced archer. Buying wrong equipment can be a waste of money, and at worst cause damage or injury. That said,if you have already acquired equipment, please do bring it along so that our coaches can assess it for safety and suitability for use.

Although I am often asked, back gardens are usually not suitable for practicing archery. Bows and arrows are weapons designed to kill the enemy or animals for lunch (neither allowed in the UK). Hedges, fences and even brick walls will not stop arrows, which could present a danger to any people or animals beyond the end of your garden. Much better to do your archery in a safe place designated for the practice of archery, with like minded people, qualified coaches and appropriate insurance.

At the end of the course, if you wish to continue with your archery, you'll be welcome to become a member of our club. We reserve the right to refuse any person membership. Annual and weekly fees apply. See our website for details
